About Carrie Battiste

Registered Social Worker

(RSW), MSW

Hey, I'm Zahra! I know starting therapy can feel overwhelming, so I'm here to make it feel way less scary. I've been working in mental health for four years and have been a therapist for just over a year, mostly in community mental health with people from their late teens through adulthood. What I absolutely love about this work is getting genuinely excited about finding the perfect tool or resource that's going to help you - I'm that person who will light up when I discover something new that might click for you. I love nerding out about research that shows us new ways to heal, and I believe the best therapeutic relationships happen when there's trust, compassion, and yeah, a little fun mixed in with the deep work. My approach is simple: you're the expert on your own life, and I'm just here to walk alongside you and help you remember how amazing you are when you've forgotten. When I'm not wearing my therapist hat, you can find me hiking with my dog, getting lost in fantasy novels, rock climbing, or eating way too much chocolate.

How I Can Help:

  • I want our sessions to feel like real talk with someone who gets it. No judgment, just a safe space where you can ask anything and we can even laugh together - because healing doesn't have to be heavy all the time.

  • Find tools and resources that actually click for you. I absolutely love nerding out about research and finding you the perfect worksheet or DBT skill that's going to work in your real life. Fair warning: I might have way too many resources to share because I get genuinely excited about this stuff!

  • Work with your mind, body, and surroundings together. Using EMDR, DBT, and a systems approach, we'll help you heal from the inside out by addressing not just your thoughts, but how your body holds onto things and how your environment affects you.

  • Build a real connection, not just a professional one. I'm going to show up as my real self (quirks and all) and invite you to do the same. The whole point is the relationship we create together - I want you to feel safe exploring parts of yourself you might have kept hidden.

  • Stop feeling like you're faking it through life. Whether you're dealing with imposter syndrome, perfectionism, or just feeling exhausted from proving yourself all the time, we'll work together to help you feel more like the amazing person you actually are.

    I am trained in DBT,
    EMDR & Satir Family systems.

Travel for Culture

My top priority when I travel is to find historic religious architecture. Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, FR, is a personal favourite!
