Are you in a transition period in your life and not sure where to go? Do you have a sense of what you want to do but are full of complex emotions such as anxiety, shame, guilt, and self doubt. This could be a great space to start our journey together. I focus my work on those who are exploring life transition, and all the complex emotions linked with self exploration & decision making. Empowering you to embrace your unique journey is my goal. In a world that loves labels, my counselling style is all about being yourself. It's a judgment-free zone where you can freely explore who you are, embrace your quirks, and grow authentically. Honesty is key, even when we you need to have tough conversations with yourself, I will help create a compassionate sounding board. Life's a puzzle, and curiosity is your best tool. We'll explore your thoughts, feelings, and actions together. Curiosity opens doors to self-discovery, helping you understand yourself and the world around you.
As a therapist, I utilize a strength-based person-centered approach tailored to your unique therapy goal. With the help of approaches rooted in ACT, EFT, EMDR & CBT, we'll embark on a transformative journey together. Your story is powerful, and I'm here to understand and honour it. A Form Of Individual Therapy To Help Process Emotional And Physical Trauma
Brainspotting
Brainspotting is a therapeutic technique that helps individuals access and process deep-seated emotional and traumatic experiences. By guiding eye movements to specific "brainspots" related to distress, the therapy aims to unlock and release unresolved trauma stored in the brain. During a Brainspotting session, I help you explore and identify the precise areas in your visual field that connect with your emotional experiences. By focusing attention on these spots, you can access and process underlying emotions and memories more effectively.
EMDR
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, it is a form of therapy that helps those experiencing symptoms of emotional distress relating to life traumas. This highly researched intervention helps those that feel “stuck” in their trauma by creating distance from these events and minimizing symptoms. EMDR uses detailed protocols, and guided eye movement, to help remove mental blocks that limit us from healing. This is a powerful eight part therapy that can help activate natural healing and can be adapted to your needs.
Providing you with a safe space to be you
The goal of my practice is to help create a congruent and authentic version of you. Areas of focus include addiction, anger management, anxiety, career exploration, cultural self- identify, trauma, depression, life transition and workplace burnout.
Approaches include:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): This approach focuses on values and how they guide our lives. There is a focus on behaviours and action as well as mindfulness tools.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): this approach focuses on our thoughts about situations, our feelings about it, and how we behave in relation to these components. The focus is to create awareness around our thoughts in difficult situations.
Emotion- Focused Therapy (EFT & EFIT): These modalities focus on the adaptive nature of emotions and the importance they serve in relation to relationships, survival, and our own self identity. EFT is also what guides my practice in couples counselling with a focus on attachment.
Person- Centred Therapy: This is an approach rooted in the belief that people are capable of positive change given the right tools and environment.
